Family Values

Forget about the insane rantings of former Pastor John Hagee against Catholics - Whores! Muslims - Terrorists and Whores! and Hollywood - Satan’s Public Relations Firm! John McCain didn’t beg for Hagee’s endorsement for any of that nonsense. He  wanted the former Pastor’s seal of approval for one reason and one reason only; to garner the Family Values voting block. And why not? They do share the same values when it comes to family.

John Hagee divorced his wife, Martha, after she gave birth to two children, so he could marry the twelve-year younger Diana Castro. For this, he was defrocked by the Assemblies of God denomination, so he sued his church for defamation of character - for millions of dollars…

McCain divorced Carol, his first wife, and proceeded to marry Cindy Lou Hensley a month later. As soon as he had access to her wealth, he decided to enter politics. His first year in Congress, 1983, he opposed the creation of Martin Luther King Day…

“Anti-family” Barack Obama, on the other hand, has a happy, wholesome, loving family…

While there is much debate in Christian circles as to the sin-level of divorce, no doubt exists that Jesus taught that it is adultery for a divorced person to remarry. John McCain committed an act that according to his own beliefs is punishable by eternal torture in hell.

Is that the kind of judgement you want your next President to have?

America Needs McCain

I pray to my Lord and Savior that John McCain becomes the next President of the United States. If ever there was a time we needed a maverick, a straight-talker, a hero, it is now. Obama offers hope; Clinton offers solutions. All of that means nothing unless you’re willing to get to the heart of the matter. The Senator from Arizona is the only person willing to take on the tough challenges we face as a nation head-on. As he stated so clearly and eloquently during a question and answer session yesterday:

“My friends, I will have an energy policy that we will be talking about, which will eliminate our dependence on oil from the Middle East that will prevent us from having ever to send our young men and women into conflict again in the Middle East.”

I remember the first time President Bush called me a terrorist for saying that America invaded Iraq for the sole purpose of getting their oil. I’ve had to live with the stigma of being a left-wing loon for five long years. I had argued that Iraq was the central front to the war on terror because George W. Bush terrorized the United Nations, Congress, the media and the American people into invading that sovereign nation. And now, finally, John McCain has boldly proclaimed the truth.

What’s more important, now we have an understanding as to why we must remain in Iraq. Right now, we are losing the war on terror. It’s taken five years, three trillion dollars and four thousand soldiers just to get us where we are today. The price of gas at the station down the street is currently $3.84 and nine-tenths. Five years ago it was $1.72 and nine-tenths. John McCain realizes that Exxon-Mobil can’t survive with the paltry ten billion dollars in profits that they earned in the first quarter of 2008. We must, to coin a phrase, “stay the course”.

I’d like to close with a quote of my own:

Editor’s note: I was being facetious in the first paragraph. For the record, I am an agnostic, and an Obama supporter.

The Money Question

Do you feel better off than you did before President Bush and Harry Reid addressed the economic situation yesterday? There was so much finger-pointing going on, I couldn’t keep track of who to blame for the mess we’re in.

We eased-back restrictions on the lending industry and look at how we were rewarded. I understand that “Free Market” sounds so much nicer than “government regulation”, but remember, capitalism is based on greed. If there’s no grownup telling these kids to play fair, why should they?

The President says Congress should have let Exxon&Co. drill in Alaska, even though it would be at least ten years until we see a drop of oil from there. Bush says Congress should turn over our closed military bases to the oil giants so they can build more refineries, even though they say they neither need or want them.

The solution of the day seems to be a tax holiday on gas for the summer. We need this desperately. John McCain is absolutely right on this one. We can put tens of thousands of lazy road-workers on the unemployment line and give the oil companies a free pass to increase profits by 18c a gallon in one fell swoop.

Listen, prices are sky-rocketing, foreclosures have never been higher and more people are either out of work or earning less than ever before. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that it’s because we have such a weak dollar. But then, when you start two wars and give tax-breaks to the rich at the same time, collection agents are eventually going to start calling. Question is, do you speak Chinese?

Sean Bell

“We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye…and now we are indignant, because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought back into our own front yards. America’s chickens are coming home to roost.” - Edward Peck, former FOX NEWS analyst

“We did nothing wrong.” - Statement from Homeland Security regarding the deportation of the mentally disabled American citizen, Peter Guzman.

“April 25, 2008, they killed Sean all over again.”  - Nicole Paultre Bell

No wonder Americans are bitter.

The Powers That Be twisted Reverend Wright’s inspiring sermon on the tragedy of 9/11 to score some political points. That’s how little they valued the three thousand lives lost on that fateful day.

No wonder Americans are bitter.

The Powers That Be kicked Peter Guzman out of his own country, throwing him into a foreign land and left to starve to death just because he didn’t speak English. That’s how little they valued the life of one single individual who happened to “fit the profile”.

No wonder Americans are bitter.

The Powers That Be murdered 23 year-old Sean Bell on the eve of what would have been the happiest day of his life. He was gunned down only hours before he was set to marry the love of his life, Nicole Paultre. Plainclothes officers fired fifty times at the innocent, unarmed Sean and two of his friends as they were leaving his bachelor party. A judge said the men that killed Sean were innocent of any wrongdoing. That’s how little they valued the life of Sean Bell.

No wonder Americans are bitter.

So, should we, in the words of Reverend Sharpton, “Shut it down!”? I don’t see that we have any other choice in the matter…

McCain’s Mentor

When does someone become evil? There is a theory that even people like Adolf Hitler, Jeffrey Dahmer and John Hagee were once “normal”. I believe there is a gradual decaying of the soul which eventually goes past the point of redemption. I seriously doubt the divorced, de-frocked Pastor just woke up one morning and decided that all Catholics and Muslims deserved to burn in hell forever. I seriously doubt that John McCain shares the Reverend’s odd beliefs. Yet, the Senator welcomes Hagee’s support. You have to wonder why.

Last Sunday, McCain made it clear to George Stephanopoulos that he condemns “remarks that are viewed as anti-anything”. Whatever that means.

Hagee was recently given a chance to atone for his horrific statements that Katrina was God’s punishment to New Orleans for planning a Gay Pride parade. The Pastor refused to back off. Instead, he went so far as to say that Katrina might one day be viewed as a blessing if it makes those sinful folks see the error of their ways.

We need to work together to prevent this kind of judgemental hatred to hold any more sway in Washington than it already does. We need to work together to prevent John McCain from becoming President.

McCain’s Rod of Faith

Yesterday, Pennsylvanians voted to allow the bloodletting between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama continue, at least for another couple of weeks. The question is, are we losing site of the real battle? While we continue this epic knock-down drag-out fight, John McCain is well on his way toward winning it all in November. So, to keep things in perspective, here are a few quotes from McCain’s spiritual advisor, Rod Parsley. These are not the outrageous remarks that Senator McCain has rejected outright, these words touch on the meat of Parsley’s message:

“$10,000 - God is speaking that to 34 people. Everybody else sow $1,000 if your need can be represented by a $1,000 seed! If you can’t sow the whole $1,000 right now sow $500 and believe God for the other $500… But take a step of faith right now. I’m giving you an opportunity to miss the mess!” - Rod Parsley, TBN, Praise-The-Lord “Macedonian Call,” July 25, 2005

“I just love to talk about your money. Let me be very clear - I want your money. I deserve it. This church deserves it.” - Rod Parsley, An Empire of Souls, pg. 35

“I’m talkin about your money you know one of the greatest things that is going to happen in the year 2,000 we’re about to see the church rise up with a revelation that only this generation has ever been given of God’s word concerning high finances in the kingdom of God and we are just about to see the greatest transfer of wealth out of the hand of the wicked into the hand of the just.” - Rod Parsley, Breakthrough Jan.7, 2000

“For you to sit in physical bondage is to deny the power of the gospel. Most people would have no trouble shouting whatsoever if I said, “To remain in the bondage of sin and death is to deny the power of the gospel.” If I said the same thing about poverty and financial bondage, it would get as quiet as a tomb. If I said that for you to live from paycheck to paycheck is to deny the power of the gospel, many of you would get angry. In Luke 4:18, Notice there was an anointing to preach good news to the poor. A lot of people don’t like to look at that because good news to a poor man is that he doesn’t have to be poor anymore. We have multitudes saved, delivered and filled with the Holy Ghost, and many are healed, yet over 90% of the church of Jesus Christ are living in absolute financial bondage. All the while, Jesus is saying, “I’ve been anointed to preach the good news to the poor.” You have held back the flow. You have denied the perpetual propulsion of power that could deliver you from not only sin and sickness but from the horrible stench of poverty.” - Rod Parsley, God’s Answer to Insufficient Funds, 1992 pps 46-47

If you agree with Parsley’s prosperity gospel, please, by all means, vote for John McCain…
